Artist's Description
I was in a quandary over what to paint next with the watercolor class I teach here in Boulder, Colorado. A rustic barn with a fence in front kept coming to mind, but the image was nebulous. Then one day, hurrying along on my way to an appointment, I drove past the perfect vignette on Valmont Road, east of Boulder. No, I can't stop now. Screech to a halt, U-turn, oh yes I must. A quick call to the person waiting for me hopefully explained why I was going to be late to my appointment. Happily, they laughed, so I think they understood. Art beckons.
About Anne Gifford
Anne Gifford is an award winning artist and the eight time poster artist for Colorado's Bolder Boulder 10K Memorial Day Race, one of the largest road races in the United States. She began her career as a silkscreen artist, and now works with watercolor, building successive layers of color to create her vibrant, rich, and detailed paintings. She has lived in Colorado since 1976 and finds inspiration in the natural beauty of the Rocky Mountains. On her many walks and hikes throughout the area, she is always on the lookout for new imagery. She relishes the depiction of a magic moment and the evidence she finds of the pulse of life, both past and present.
