Artist's Description
Let's reach back into time to 1987 to the first artwork I did of Marshall Mesa, just south of Boulder, Colorado. From 1977 - 1999, I worked mostly in silkscreen. For each color, a separate screen must be made, lined up to print on the right place on the paper, and then the ink is pushed through the screen with a rubber squeegee. My studio was in the basement of our house (still in the family) across the road from the mesa where I lived for 11 years. That house was destroyed in the fire, as well as many areas of Marshall Mesa. My tribute continues.......
About Anne Gifford
Anne Gifford is an award winning artist and the eight time poster artist for Colorado's Bolder Boulder 10K Memorial Day Race, one of the largest road races in the United States. She began her career as a silkscreen artist. After 25 years of printmaking, Anne now works with watercolor, building successive layers of color to create her vibrant, rich, and detailed paintings. She has lived in Colorado since 1976 and finds inspiration in the natural beauty of the Rocky Mountains. Her paintings, like a pictorial journal, have chronicled her journey thus far. On her many walks and hikes throughout the area, she is always on the lookout for new imagery. She relishes the depiction of a magic moment and the evidence she finds of the pulse of life,...
