My friend lived in Boulder, Colorado for many years, and her garden was always so beautiful. Eventually, she moved to Salida, Colorado, where things grow, but due to the altitude, very slowly. "I can't even grow a tulip up here" she lamented. She sent me a picture of the hammock that used to reside in their Boulder garden, complete with the spectacular San Juan mountain backdrop of their new, flowerless yard. I painted them the hammock and added in a garden. Sure enough, 10 years later, her green thumb has rendered her Salida garden just as lush as the garden she had to leave behind.
Anne Gifford is an award winning artist and the eight time poster artist for Colorado's Bolder Boulder 10K Memorial Day Race, one of the largest road races in the United States. She began her career as a silkscreen artist. After 25 years of printmaking, Anne now works with watercolor, building successive layers of color to create her vibrant, rich, and detailed paintings. She has lived in Colorado since 1976 and finds inspiration in the natural beauty of the Rocky Mountains. Her paintings, like a pictorial journal, have chronicled her journey thus far.
