Boulder County sponsored a plein aire "paintout" this summer, whereupon local artists went to various beautiful properties set aside by our county over the years as open space. I chose this pastoral view east of the Boulder Flatirons. The clouds you can see on the horizon quickly came in and soon drenched me! Luckily, I had a plastic bag in my pack and was able to save the painting!

Anne Gifford is an award winning artist and the eight time poster artist for Colorado's Bolder Boulder 10K Memorial Day Race, one of the largest road races in the United States. She began her career as a silkscreen artist, and now works with watercolor, building successive layers of color to create her vibrant, rich, and detailed paintings. She has lived in Colorado since 1976 and finds inspiration in the natural beauty of the Rocky Mountains. On her many walks and hikes throughout the area, she is always on the lookout for new imagery.
