Description
While an artist in residence at Caribou Ranch near Nederland, Colorado, I had the opportunity to perch on a hillside and paint this lovely stone house. In the 1940's, the Moore family lived in this beautiful stone home for a while. While I painted, I could imagine what it must have been like to live there. I don't suppose it was too practical, due to it's extremely remote location. The stonework was exquisite, and I enjoyed painting it.

It was fun to paint, Hanne. I don’t usually paint en plain aire, but this was a happy exception.

Anne, nobody captures the mood and personality of old buildings better than you! Each one tells a story.

Beautiful, Anne, as always. I love the stone on the walls and the texture of the roof, not to mention the details throughout, especially with the vegetation. So skillfully done.
Anne Gifford replied:
I do get lost in the details, that is true! It is rather meditative. Thank you always, Michael, for your kind comments.

I do get engrossed in the details, it's true! Sometimes I think it would be fun to try to simplify. Thank you for your kind comment, Faye.
