I used my original watercolor painting of the view from Hoosier Pass between Breckenridge and Alma, Colorado as inspiration for this digital piece. For many years, my main media was silkscreen printing. I figured out a way to simulate serigraphy in the computer. I first did a line drawing from the painting, and then filled in each tree and mountain with blended colors. The finishing details were hand drawn, scanned into my computer, and overlaid onto the image in colors of my choice....very similar to silkscreen printing without the toxic chemicals!

Anne Gifford is an award winning artist and the eight time poster artist for Colorado's Bolder Boulder 10K Memorial Day Race, one of the largest road races in the United States. She began her career as a silkscreen artist, and now works with watercolor, building successive layers of color to create her vibrant, rich, and detailed paintings. She has lived in Colorado since 1976 and finds inspiration in the natural beauty of the Rocky Mountains. On her many walks and hikes throughout the area, she is always on the lookout for new imagery.
