She began her career as a silkscreen artist. After 25 years of printmaking, Anne now works with watercolor, building successive layers of color to create her vibrant, rich, and detailed paintings. She has lived in Colorado since 1976 and finds inspiration in the natural beauty of the Rocky Mountains. Her paintings, like a pictorial journal, have chronicled her journey thus far. This is a wonderful set of paintings for so many reasons- mother daughter love, sense of humor, comfort with being real, reaction to fires in Boulder, and so much more.

Kathy, thank you for the insightful, encouraging comment.
Julie Brugh Riffey
Great portraits! Incognito portraits! I presume you are the one in the sportier green hat and round spiffy glasses. Your mom's glasses speak of the 70s, and her beads remind me of my mom's costume jewelry. (This is how I deciphered the clues as to who is who!) Oh yeah, I think I see white hair poking out from under her hat! Great way to preserve a moment in time, even though it was rough for us all. These will certainly be a conversation piece somewhere in the future! Great job with your handling of the watercolor medium, that slinky substance that defies an artist's will (mine) and does what IT wants to do! Love the bright colors too.
Anne Gifford replied:
I love your insightful comments, Julie, and your take on figuring out “who is who”. The only thing I would add is that I have gray hair, too! :)
