Great rendering, use of color, and form. Especially like the reflection in the glasses.
Anne Gifford replied:
The glasses were the most fun to do, Brad, and I thank you for the kind comment.

What a great idea for paintings--and they are especially intriguing side by side. What a time we have been/are going through!
Anne Gifford replied:
Thank you Marsha. By the time I am answering your comment, the masks have mostly come off but this sure is a memory of those strange times.

love this! it is very meaningful of the time we live in right now, but I can imagine how it will be precious for future generations as well
Anne Gifford replied:
Thank you. Yes, it may be a grim or who knows, slightly humorous? commentary about our times in the future. Art reflects that which surrounds us, indeed. Thank you for the comment!

I love it! A perfect pair of pandemic portraits! Even though I can't see much of your faces, the pair of you make me smile. The detail work, the different textures, the reflections, the fabric prints, and colors are all eye candy. L/F

This is a wonderful set of paintings for so many reasons- mother daughter love, sense of humor, comfort with being real, reaction to fires in Boulder, and so much more.
Julie Brugh Riffey
Great portraits! Incognito portraits! I presume you are the one in the sportier green hat and round spiffy glasses. Your mom's glasses speak of the 70s, and her beads remind me of my mom's costume jewelry. (This is how I deciphered the clues as to who is who!) Oh yeah, I think I see white hair poking out from under her hat! Great way to preserve a moment in time, even though it was rough for us all. These will certainly be a conversation piece somewhere in the future! Great job with your handling of the watercolor medium, that slinky substance that defies an artist's will (mine) and does what IT wants to do! Love the bright colors too.
Anne Gifford replied:
I love your insightful comments, Julie, and your take on figuring out “who is who”. The only thing I would add is that I have gray hair, too! :)
