Description
It was a year ago this week that I visited New Orleans (for Halloween no less!...the perfect place to be for one of my favorite holidays.) Once we were sated with the city, we went on to Lafayette, Louisiana and stayed in the heart of the bayou. Visiting this area had been on my bucket list for years. The photo I used for inspiration was taken while on a swamp tour which was a highlight of our trip. We were riding in a small boat with one of the local folk who showed us every nook and cranny of his native territory. I just had to do a painting of the distinctive tupelo trees, the egret, and the breathtaking reflections in the murky water. It's a memory I still cherish.

I so love how you have depicted the glowing white egret and shimmering reflection against undulating textures of the tupelo tree! This captures all that is beautiful about the bayou and I your narrative makes it come alive all the more.

This is so beautifully painted, Anne. It so clearly reflects the beauty of the bayou in Louisiana. I love the color of the trunks and the placement of the egret - and those beautiful reflections! So well done.
