Long's Gardens was once a flourishing Iris garden, ablaze each springtime with the splendor of every color of Iris in bloom imaginable. It has since fallen into disrepair, but the local artists still find it a wonderful site to paint because some poppies have now taken the place of the iris. My favorite part of this painting is the reflection on the cabin window.
Anne Gifford is an award winning artist and the eight time poster artist for Colorado's Bolder Boulder 10K Memorial Day Race, one of the largest road races in the United States. She began her career as a silkscreen artist. After 25 years of printmaking, Anne now works with watercolor, building successive layers of color to create her vibrant, rich, and detailed paintings. Thanks, Will. It's actually an old iris garden here in the town I live in, only the irises are no more and what remains now are only a few run down buildings and some renegade poppies. It's still a favorite artist's painting site though....
