Artist's Description
This is a commission I did for the Boulder, Colorado Chamber of Commerce, and was used for their Christmas card in 2022. Since 1947, the Bolder Star has been set aglow on Flagstaff Montain to honor our veterans. The star is surrounded by the wonderful light show that the city displays each holiday season. I placed the star over the historic Boulder bandshell, which to me suggested a manger.
About Anne Gifford
Anne Gifford is an award winning artist and the eight time poster artist for Colorado's Bolder Boulder 10K Memorial Day Race, one of the largest road races in the United States. She began her career as a silkscreen artist, and now works with watercolor, building successive layers of color to create her vibrant, rich, and detailed paintings. She has lived in Colorado since 1976 and finds inspiration in the natural beauty of the Rocky Mountains. On her many walks and hikes throughout the area, she is always on the lookout for new imagery. She relishes the depiction of a magic moment and the evidence she finds of the pulse of life, both past and present.
