I first did a painting of this image for the Bolder Boulder 10K race folks. They liked the look of the silkscreen prints I had done in the past, so I figured out a way to simulate serigraphy in the computer. I first did a line drawing from the painting, and then filled in every little bush, rock, and tree with blended colors. The finishing details were hand drawn, scanned into my computer, and overlaid onto the image in colors of my choice....very similar to silkscreen printing without the toxic chemicals!

Anne Gifford is an award winning artist and the eight time poster artist for Colorado's Bolder Boulder 10K Memorial Day Race, one of the largest road races in the United States. She began her career as a silkscreen artist, and now works with watercolor, building successive layers of color to create her vibrant, rich, and detailed paintings. She has lived in Colorado since 1976 and finds inspiration in the natural beauty of the Rocky Mountains. On her many walks and hikes throughout the area, she is always on the lookout for new imagery.
