Artist's Description

FROSTY MARSHALL MORNING
It was supposed to be a spring day when I drove by the Colorado country road that leads to Marshall. Springtime in the Rockies! Look at that frost on the trees. Magical. I drove on by. Waitaminute. MAGICAL! I did a quick U turn and went back for a photograph. I'm glad I did. This new painting saves for posterity the way Marshall looked before the fire blazed through these trees and fields on its insatiable journey east. I've learned to never take the familiarity of the beauty around me for granted.

This is the presentation for the ten paintings, corresponding post-fire photos, and text that explains the backstory behind the art, as they appear in my art show "A Tribute to Marshall: A Journey Through Healing". My Marshall exhibition will be shown in various venues in and around Boulder, Colorado in the coming months. Above is the text included with the photo.

About Anne Gifford

Anne Gifford

Anne Gifford is an award winning artist and the eight time poster artist for Colorado's Bolder Boulder 10K Memorial Day Race, one of the largest road races in the United States. She began her career as a silkscreen artist. After 25 years of printmaking, Anne now works with watercolor, building successive layers of color to create her vibrant, rich, and detailed paintings. She has lived in Colorado since 1976 and finds inspiration in the natural beauty of the Rocky Mountains. Her paintings, like a pictorial journal, have chronicled her journey thus far. On her many walks and hikes throughout the area, she is always on the lookout for new imagery. She relishes the depiction of a magic moment and the evidence she finds of the pulse of life,...
