Description
This past summer, I was fortunate to get a permit to lead a group of painters to the now closed Anne U. White trail just north of Boulder, Colorado. A year ago, the trail was decimated by the flooding that Colorado sustained. What was once a popular hiking trail had been transformed into a jumble of nearly impassable rocks, with little bits of the trail still evident here and there. We sat in eerie silence while we painted our rearranged surroundings, in awe of the power of nature.

Beautiful, but unnerving piece. Climate change is bringing this lesson home far too often.
Anne Gifford replied:
This was indeed a painting of just that, and sadly, I have done quite a few others since. Thank you for commenting, Marsha.

Anne,I'm in admiration of how you have brought these rocks to life in your wonderful watercolor way! They have the most lovely range of tones and shades. They are awash with light and beautiful detail. The tiny flowers add even more sparkle. You really "see" every aspect of your chosen subject. Love very much looking at your paintings! L/F

Fabulous, Anne! I used to camp and hike that area as a child. I can nearly smell the fresh air. Your description is fascinating. f/l
